What
are ‘invisible braces’?
Dr Skeggs is certified to use the Invisalign system of tough, clear aligners that can be used to straighten your teeth. Several sets of specially moulded, subtly different aligners are constructed using a computer. Each set is worn for two weeks before being replaced with the next one. They are made from clear plastic so they are virtually invisible. This means that no one need know you are straightening your teeth.
Your aligners are worn for 22 to 23 hours a day. They are easily removed for eating, drinking, and cleaning. Not all patients are suitable for Invisalign and you will need to have all your adult teeth erupted in the mouth before you can have this treatment.

Is orthodontic
work permanent?
We will make every attempt to ensure your teeth remain stable after treatment but it is normal for minor tooth movements to occur throughout life. All patients will need to wear retainer braces long term to ensure your teeth remain straightened.
How
much does it cost?
You can undertake Orthodontic treatment at our practice under the National Health Service or as a private patient.
Under the current NHS regulations you will only be entitled to treatment at our practice if you are under 18 and your problem is sufficiently severe. A child with minor problems that are classed as cosmetic is not eligible for NHS treatment.
We are happy to discuss all of the options that are available to you for orthodontic improvement on a private basis.
If you decide to have treatment privately we will provide you with a treatment plan and a cost estimate. Written estimates of the costs of orthodontic treatment are provided for our private patients and different payment options are available at the practice. We will happily discuss these with you.
